CORDEA ANNOUNCES OPENING OF PALOMAR MEDICAL CENTER WEST
“Hospital of the Future” is a reality today!
Escondido, Calif. September 5th, 2012
Palomar Health opened one of the most technologically advanced hospitals on Sunday, August 19th with a 288 bed Palomar Medical Center in northern San Diego County. This completed one of the largest hospital construction projects in the country. Palomar Medical Center not only provides one of the most clinician and patient friendly environments, but also one of the most technologically advanced hospitals in the country.
There are several forward-thinking technologies that were included in the design and build of Palomar Medical Center. Teletracking allows for notification of patient arrival to various locations of the hospital following their continuum of care. In addition to decreased patient wait times for procedures and beds, Teletracking improves throughput to maximize the operational efficiency of the hospital. The nurse call system is now integrated to the wireless phones improving communication between caregivers and their patients who may need them. Dinner can now be ordered by patients through an electronic interface allowing the hospitals dietary department to meet patients’ needs more effectively and improve patient satisfaction. Training was an integral part of the role out of these and other technologies to ensure staff was equipped for their new “Hospital of the Future”.
Jen Pfeifer, project manager said, “This was an exciting group of projects to work on because they truly bring technology and patient care together.” “…we feel the prior experience of Cordea Consulting consultants truly facilitated these projects and enabled them, through hard work and oversight, to be completed on time and within the known budget.” “We are exceptionally proud to be working with such a dedicated team at Palomar Health and continue to work with them on future projects that enhance patient care and outcomes.”, states Jen Pfeifer.
Palomar Medical Center teamed with Cordea to provide analysts, trainers and project managers for these projects and others. The mutual respect and ability to work together has made this a smooth opening for the new hospital. The Cordea Team recognizes the efforts of Jen Pfeifer, Jen Sloane, Matt Lovely, Bob Jones, Rich Swanson, Fred Merritt, Ron Schwerdtfeger, and Bernie Doyle for their role in the launch of Palomar Medical Center.
